Great Student Offers

Last year I decided  that I would start studying again. It had been quite a while since I had left school with very little to show for it.

There are many advantages in studying, for example you work towards a good qualification and you are learning new things (which are hopefully related to your interests). Another great advantage are the discounts and freebies that you can get. Companies want to entice you in getting used to using their software, if they grab you as a student and you do adopt their tools/services then as your career progresses you may just stick with the product and become a paid customer. I personally have benefited from such offers and I still benefit from these. Here are some of the offers I have found and taken part of.

Adobe

Adobe currently give Flash Builder 4 free of charge to students. Flash builder 4 allows you to build cool looking flex applications as well as other things.

Microsoft

Microsoft has really embraced the philosophy of giving students the tools to work. Microsoft launched a scheme called Bright Spark. With Bright Spark you get tools such as Windows Server 2008, Visual Studio (2005 and 2008) and a subscription to XNA (to assist you making windows live and XBox games) as well as many other tools. To take part all you require is an academic email address or a student union card.

Micorsoft also have their ultimate steal offers for students. You can purchase Office 2010 Professional for £49.99.

Be sure to check back regularly as I will be updating the list as I find more offers. If you know of any offers that I have not included be sure to let me know.
