The Problem With Reporting Bugs
Yesterday I was doing my usual run on forums. Looking about to see what I could find that was interesting.
I have a particular interest in PHP coding and came across a user who had made a 3,4 and 5 digit domain name generator. I had a quick look to see how well he had done but found there was a problem.
Of course me being me I decided to let him know and emailed the address in the contact area telling him that the generators were flawed. (for example the 3 digit generator started at 100 and finished at 998, the 4 and 5 digit had very similar problems).
To my surprise this is the response I got:-
“thanks, go fuck yourself.”
Now I did not necessarily expect him to start sining my praises but I certainly didn’t expect to receive abuse from him. Maybe he should read the title of his web page a bit more. Ironically it was called Charles Chill Out.
A word of warning. If someone has the decency to report a bug to you at least have the decency to thank them properly. And certainly do not give them abuse for it.
