How Many Incompetent Companies Can 1 Person Deal With

I am getting somewhat fed up of dealing with incompetent companies. 10 Weeks ago I was made redundant so as anyone would I started sorting out my finances. 1 company I have a credit card with is Barclay Card.

I phoned the relevant number for Barclay Card and after 3 tries got the phone number for the department that deals with claims (they kept giving me the wrong number). Once I had finally got hold of someone that could deal with my problem it turned out they had no records that I had been paying protection on my credit card (funny since it was being debited from my account).

I of course got a straight back onto the phone to the credit card department. After half an hour of getting nowhere with the operator I demanded to speak to a manager who I did eventually get to speak too. They claimed that the insurance department had not got my details because my card was currently in the process of being upgraded (the credit card I had was originally with a different company but was bought out by Barclay Card). They said as soon as the upgrade had taken place they would fax the details and I should phone the following Monday to request an insurance claim form.

On the Monday I phoned as told only to find that the credit card department had not bothered to fax the details but the credit card department agreed to do it there and then and they would send me the relevant forms. I settled for that and waited for the forms. After receiving the forms If course got everything filled in and returned it. Last week I had realized that I had still not heard back from them (any other insurance company I a m dealing with me had contacted me and everything was in process, some even paying). I decided to phone up and I spoke to the credit card department, instead of putting me through to the insurance claims department the operator supposedly spoke to them and told me the claim was in process. I say supposedly because today I phoned up and got put through to the claims department as I had a query on when they will start paying. Guess what they have no record of a claim nor that I have been paying credit card protection (I though that had already been sorted) and what is even more mysterious the person who told me the claim was in process (according to the claims department) would have no way of telling whether my claim was in process or not. I wonder if they make a habit of bullshitting people.

On a slightly different note when I was made redundant I signed on with the job center. I applied for contributions based job seekers allowance. 6 weeks later I started my claim for housing benefit (I didn’t claim earlier as they are not liable to pay until later so there was no value in claiming earlier). 1 thing I needed was proof that I was unemployed. The proof is either the job seekers allowance book or a letter saying I had been accepted for the benefit. I was unaware of this and mentioned it to the security guard who said I should have received a letter, he directed me to a phone and told me who I should speak too. I of course spoke to those people who claimed I had not paid any national insurance contributions for the last 8 years (it was automatically taken off my wages by my previous employer). Unfortunately they did not bother to send me a letter to tell me this (this was later confirmed by the job center). At the earliest time possible I supplied the job center with my p60’s which prove I have been paying national insurance the job center send these to the claim office by courier. The next time I signed on (a couple of weeks after I supplied the p60’s) I mentioned I still had not received a letter confirming my claim, the lady I sign on with told me to phone to query. The following working day I phoned the department but nobody who could help was available so the person I spoke too took my number and told me he would try to find out why I had not received a letter. I then went to the job center to get some forms some insurance companies needed. While in the job center I received a call back from the claims department. They claim that they never received my p60’s (which may I remind you were sent by the job center using a courier service a couple of weeks before). I mentioned this to the lady I was getting the forms from, she looked on the system and it did agree that they had not received them what is more there was a note on the system claiming I had not responded to a letter about me notpaying national insurance contributions, on the same system it also notes that a letter was not sent (how can I respond to a letter they did not send) It has been 10 weeks since I made a claim and I am stil not accepted for a benefit that I am legally entitled too.

I wonder if it would help if I were a junkie bastard defrauding the system.
